The old Michigan State Police Post in South Haven is owned by the city and they lease out the building. The property around the building, however, is still owned by the state and they want the city to buy it. City Manager Brian Dissette spoke with WSJM News about the deal.

“The city council took action to approve a resolution which allows staff to move forward with making a formal purchase offer to the state of Michigan to acquire the out lots which surround the Michigan State Police post,” Dissette said.

The city will pay $33,650 for the properties and market them at a later date. Dissette says when the sale will close isn’t known because the state does things on its own time.
