Ten area businesses are vying to win the eighth annual Celebrated Service Award from Celebration Cinema. Emily Loeks of parent company Studio C says the companies aren’t competing directly with each other.

“That’s one of the things we talk about as we gather as a group of businesses that this is a campaign to elevate great service overall, and at the end of the day, there’s an award recipient based on voting.

There are two on the list for the second time – M Squared Modern Hair in St. Joseph and the Mason Jar Cafe in Benton Harbor.

“These businesses are doing something that’s really special,” said Loeks, adding “we would be proud to champion any one of them or all of them for the duration of the campaign.”

The winning company receives a $2,500 cash prize, specialized training at ZingTrain in Ann Arbor, and movie watch parties for all employees. Loeks says past award winners have seen business increase as well, but is quick to say it’s anecdotal and likely has a lot more to do with how well those companies treat their customers than winning the award from the theater chain. Last year’s winner in the Benton Harbor market was the Mark III restaurant.

Voting runs from now through Monday, November 12 at celebratedservice.com/benton
