Democrats will take over control of the U.S. House in January, and that could mean trouble for President Trump. Several members of the Democratic Party have recently raised the possibility of impeaching the President again after it was alleged he directed former lawyer Michael Cohen to violate campaign finance laws to buy the silence of several women with whom he has reportedly had extramarital affairs. Congressman Fred Upton says any movement on impeachment needs to wait until special prosecutor Robert Mueller wraps up his investigation into Trump and his entire organization.

“It’s not been fully revealed what (Mueller) has and it continues to proceed,” said Upton. “Lots of redacted documents (have been released), but at some point it all becomes transparent and we see exactly what the investigation shows.”

The House has the power to impeach the President, with the Senate holding the trial if the House approves the proceedings. Only two U.S. Presidents have ever been impeached: Andrew Johnson after the Civil War in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1996. Both were acquitted by the Senate and remained in office.
