When families get together for the holidays it can mean eating, drinking, and arguing. The current political climate, family responsibilities, and relationships top the list of stressers between family members according to a survey by the American Psychological Association. Dr. Lynn Bufka is with the organization and spoke with Michigan News Network.

“Family dynamics are difficult to change, and if you actually do think differently, that’s going to cause a ripple for everyone and they might not get it and may kind of push back and want you to be the way they expect you to be,” Bufka said.

Bufka says you’re not going to resolve everything over the dinner table. If things do get out of control, she recommends having an escape plan.
