Newly-elected state Senator Aric Nesbitt and his staff will host an open house at his Lansing office on the first session day of the year tomorrow. Nesbitt will welcome constituents from the 26th District to the Binsfeld Senate Office Building near the Capitol starting at 10 a.m. We asked the former state representative if he was used to the new title of senator.

“I don’t think you ever get used to it,” Nesbitt tells us. “It’s always humbling to be able to represent my home community in west Michigan in an area the family has been farming for six generations.”

The Lawton Republican served his full three terms in the state House and briefly worked as the Michigan Lottery Commissioner under former Governor Snyder before leaving that role to run for the Senate. He succeeded term-limited Senator Tonya Schuitmaker of Mattawan.
