All county offices in Berrien and Van Buren counties are closed for the day due to the weather. Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey says all non-essential workers in that county were sent home at noon. As for the roads, they’re covered by blowing snow but there haven’t been a lot of accidents.
“Stay home if you can, and if you have to travel, slow down,” says Bailey. “Make sure you have winter gear in your car so if you do get stranded you have blankets and flares and some water to drink to try to stay warm until emergency crews can get there to help you.”
Bailey says the plan is for county offices to reopen on Tuesday, weather-permitting. The closure includes the Berrien County Courthouse and the County Administration building.
