With last week’s frigid weather shutting down many businesses and many government offices, the Berrien County Board of Commissioners this week took a minute to salute those county employees who still came out to work. The board approved a resolution from Commissioner Teri Freehling recognizing those critical members of county staff who braved the cold and dangerous driving conditions. She spoke with WSJM News.

“For me, I recognize that our staff is driven for excellence, and they are always trying to do the best that they can for the residents of Berrien County, and this is an extraordinary circumstance with regards to the weather event that occurred,” Freehling said.

Freehling tells us at least 14 Berrien County departments were still operational last week. They included 911 dispatch, information services, and human resources.
