The case of the 2014 death of a man who had the freedom to come and go as he pleased from the Eau Claire Adult Foster Care home will be up to a jury to decide. The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled last week that a jury should hear the case brought against the facility by the family of 59-year-old Michael Wrenn. He died when he was hit by a truck driven by a 22-year-old Benton Harbor man on Christmas Eve 2014 while walking along M-140 in Pipestone Township by himself. Staff at the facility say they were required to follow his treatment plan and give him the freedom to leave when he wanted, while family contends they should not have let him take a walk on a cold and rainy afternoon.
