The Bridgman Police Department is warning everyone about a scam that has appeared in the community. It says a couple of residents were scammed by someone who randomly offered to do repairs on their property for a low price. After the job was finished, the fake contractor charged the couple more than $5,000. The couple was able to stop payment on the check once they realized what was happening. The Bridgman Police Department says the scammers target the elderly, and advises those who are approached by unknown contractors that make them uncomfortable to contact authorities.
