Michigan’s Impaired Driving Safety Commission has recommended to Governor Whitmer that Michigan set no limit for the amount of THC in a driver’s blood. Commission member Norbert Kaminski says there’s a poor correlation between blood levels of THC and driving impairment.

“That’s primarily because THC is very rapidly metabolized and cleared from the bloodstream,” says Kaminski. “Individuals may still be impaired, but their levels of THC may be very low.”

The commission recommended that Michigan continue to use roadside sobriety tests to determine if a driver is impaired.
