The woman killed in a crash on I-94 in Lake Township early Sunday morning has been identified as 36-year-old Venice Spears of Chicago. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says she was stopped in the right lane near mile marker 14 and was hit from behind by a Ford F-250 hauling a camper. That driver, a 67-year-old Wisconsin man, told police a car in front of him swerved to avoid Spears’ Chevy Sonic, but he was unable to do so. Authorities are awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports on Spears, and as yet have no idea why she was stopped in a traffic lane on eastbound I-94. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
