St. Joseph Today is busy making preparations for the seventh annual BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival. Set for Saturday, May 18, the event will feature headliner JD McPherson performing with his back to Lake Michigan starting at 6:50 p.m. at Whirlpool Centennial Park. St. Joe Today’s Daniele Crevier tells WSJM News McPherson isn’t the only performer. There will be a lineup of six beginning at 12:30.

“We’ve also got Tameca Jones,” Crevier said. “She’s the queen of Austin soul. She’s going to bring her R&B and soul to the stage. We’ve got Buenos Aires band, Che Apalache. They’re going to do some Latin grass. That’s new for us this year and we’re really excited. Then we’ve got Nora Jane Struthers and the Party Line. They’re going to do their take on roots and Americana.”

The opener is blue grass band the Special Consensus. Crevier says there will be seven food vendors on hand all day. They include Lark’s Barbecue, Piggin’ N’ Grinnin’, and Silver Beach Pizza. Plus, there’s a wide assortments of locally made beers and wines. Tickets are available now and will be at the door. To get one, go to St. Joseph Today’s website, or stop by the Welcome Center downtown.
