Michigan Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin wants more businesses in the state to compete for defense contracts. The Holly Democrat took part in a recent business roundtable in Oakland County where she said a lot of work could be directed to the state..

“I think the defense world is a place for growth for a lot of industries in our state, and the only reason we don’t have more defense contracts is out companies just aren’t exposed to that stream of work,” Slotkin said.

Slotkin says says auto industry-related work is plateauing. She adds the state’s congressional delegation has three members who sit on military committees that can help bring more federal dollars back to Michigan.
