Graduation Friday For Michigan Career and Technical Institute

There will be a graduation ceremony this week for the Michigan Career and Technical Institute in Allegan County’s Plainwell. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson Bob Wheaton tells WSJM News the MCTI provides vocational training in 13 careers to adults with disabilities.

“Many, many hundreds of individuals have graduated from there and have been able to go on to careers as certified nursing assistance and in the culinary arts and a variety of other skilled fields,” Wheaton said.

Wheaton says the institute celebrates its 75th year this year, and Friday’s graduation ceremony will include 172 students who have received training in areas that also include automotive technology, cabinet making, custodial, electronics, and graphic communications. The students come from all over Michigan.
