The Glad Peach Festival is set for this week in Coloma. It starts Friday at noon, and will run through Sunday evening. Peach Fest President Julie Pupedis tells WSJM News the festival started as a victory celebration following World War II. At first, it was just a flower show, but over the years it’s grown.

“The festival is very much a giant block party, and it just takes place in the three blocks of downtown,” Pupedis said. “You can’t get lost.”

The fun kicks off Friday at noon when the food booths open. There will be live music that night and the coronation of the king and queen. The busiest day will be Saturday.

“We have our carnivals and the vendors. The library has a book sale. They’ll have some really good deals at the library.

There’s a 5K run and walk, the peach pit spit, a hot dog eating contest, and the parade starts at 1 p.m. Sunday will feature a car show and a kids tractor pull. All of that is not to mention the peaches you’ll be able to buy around town. The full schedule for the weekend can be found at ColomaPeachFest.com.
