The drowning death of a 37-year-old Paw Paw man in Porter Township’s Cedar Lake is under investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department. The man is believed to have suffered a medical incident that caused him to fall out of his boat into the lake shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday. A resident who lives on the lake called 911 after seeing his boat going in circles and hearing him yelling for help. That witness tried unsuccessfully to get to the man, and he was pulled from the water by emergency responders and relatives who were also boating on the lake. The man was pronounced dead at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. His death is not considered suspicious, and his name has not been released.
