The St. Joseph Township Police Department is dealing with a rash of thefts from vehicles. Police Chief Randy Leng spoke with WSJM News.

“They’re basically larcenies from motor vehicles where the vehicles have been left unlocked, and the suspects are going in and grabbing purses, computers, whatever has been left inside the vehicles,” Leng said.

Leng says the recent round of larcenies has been around the Fairplain area.

“They’ve been happening all summer long, but the latest rash started on Sunday night, Monday morning.”

Leng notes all of the thefts have been from unlocked vehicles, and so the solution for residents is simple. He tells them to lock their vehicles. Leng says police have a few photos, but no suspects at this time. If you see anything or know anything, contact the St. Joseph Township Police Department.
