The sixth annual Michigan Maritime Museum Boat Walk is quickly approaching. It is set for next Saturday, August 17 from noon to 4 p.m. and the Museum’s Ashley Deming says they’ll have as many as 10 boats taking part, and are still recruiting.

“We’ve got some interesting boats, for sure,” Deming tells WSJM News. “The junior sailing program through the South Haven Yacht Club is participating this year. We’ve got some really beautiful boats this year, and we look forward to having people come out.”

The event allows people to explore privately-owned vessels of different types and styles, inside and out. Deming says people who haven’t taken the tour could be in for a surprise.

“Really how roomy these boats are. You may see them from the dock, but when you board, certainly some of the sailboats, you don’t realize how much like small cabins they really are,” she adds.

A program and map will be available at the Museum to help guide people. Tickets for the Boat Walk are $15 per person for anyone 14 and older. Those are available now at this link or by calling 269-637-8078.
