A 33-year-old Bridgman is facing a first-degree home invasion charge for a July 30 incident in which police say he forced his way into a home in the 97-hundred block of Evergreen Drive and got into a fight with a 34-year-old acquaintance. The suspect is Christopher Betts, and he is free on bond after being arraigned on Thursday on the charge, which followed his release from the hospital.

Betts was shot in the leg by the other man during the confrontation, and Bridgman police say that man will not face any charges. As for what may have prompted the situation, authorities say Betts’ wife was at the other man’s home, but all investigators have said about that is to call it a “domestic situation.”
