The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center in St. Joseph is planning some spooky tours for this fall. The museum’s Sandra Spiering tells WSJM News there will be two kinds of haunted tours. First will be the cemetery tours on Saturday, October 5. They’ll run from 4 to 9 p.m. and each will be about 45 minutes. They’ll provide information on some of the people buried at the city cemetery. For example…

“Ben King, his grave is there. He was a poet that was here in St. Joseph-Benton Harbor, and he is buried there. Some of the firemen from the Yore Opera House, Mr. Napier is buried there. We’re going to have some of the Twin City Players that re going to be stationed at these grave sites, and they’ll be dressed in character to give visitors information about that particular person.”

Then on Sunday, October 13 Spiering says they’ll have a tour of the old St. Joseph’s Historic District with some spooky but true stories. Those tours will run from 1 to 4 p.m. and start at Bear Park. The cost for either kind of tour will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids. You can sign up by contacting the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center.
