Coming up Monday will be Lake Michigan College’s annual Transfer Fair. LMC Career and Transfer Credit Coordinator Krista Elkins tells WSJM News there will be representatives from around 50 colleges and universities who can answer questions from students who want to transfer. She says a lot of students want to know if a given credit can transfer. She also has some advice for students who know they’ll be shipping out from LMC to a four year institution.

“The main thing I’d like students to be aware of is that they really should have an idea of which school they’re transferring to by the end of their first year,” Elkins said. “That way, when they meet with their academic advisor, we can make sure that we’re selecting courses that transfer specifically to that university.”

The Transfer Fair is held the same day as LMC College Night so they’ll already have reps of major institutions on hand. Elkins says common universities for LMC students to transfer to include Western Michigan University, Andrews University, and Grand Valley State University. Lake Michigan College’s Transfer Fair will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gym of the Main Building on the Benton Harbor campus. Everyone is welcome.
