The state’s average gas price is down 11¢ a gallon according to the latest data from Triple-A Michigan. The auto club puts the average at $2.58, a drop of about 30¢ from this time last year. Traverse City continues to have the lowest prices of the area’s surveyed by Triple-A at $2.47, and Ann Arbor’s prices have been the highest for several months. This week, those are at $2.67. In Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, AAA says the average price is $2.55, down 6¢ over the past week. South Haven, which is not part of the AAA survey, is down to $2.30 according to GasBuddy, and that website notes prices in Niles are as low as $2.40 to start the week.
