The final numbers are being tallied for this year’s Stuff-A-Truck foodraiser event by 97.5 Y-Country, but morning host Matt Malone tells us it looks like last year’s record will be eclipsed.

“Roughly $14,300, and some change,” says Malone when it comes to the monetary donations. “About 11 trucks are full now. We’re still waiting for a couple of schools to be picked up, and one donation that is yet to come through, but it’s looking like a record-breaking year.”

The station spent last week at Roger’s Foodland, collecting food and monetary donations in collaboration with Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency.

“The biggest thing I took away is the fact that most of the people that are first to give are people who have already received from this, and it’s a way that they try to give back.”

Malone adds food insecurity is a much bigger issue than most people realize, noting one in three people have to choose between feeding their families and paying the bills.
