The National Weather Service is expecting some wild winds in the coming days. It’s issued a high wind watch to be in effect Wednesday morning through Wednesday night. Meteorologist Andrea Honor tells WSJM News this will bring a set of problems.

“We could see wind gusts reaching up to 50 miles an hour or more,” Honor said. “We’re going to see those highest wind gusts right along the lakeshore, and that’s really going to pick up our wave heights. It’s possible we could see wave heights, definitely up to ten feet, possibly even up to about 12 or 15 feet at their highest, and that will lead to a pretty significant amount of beach erosion, dune erosion, even some lakeshore flooding.”

Honor also says winds that high could damage trees and power lines, making outages possible. The weather service says travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles on north-south oriented roads. Everyone’s advised to keep an eye on their local weather forecast to be prepared.
