Donations are being sought to help the Greater South Haven Area Community Foundation raise money for the new splash pad under construction near South Beach in South Haven. The city project comes with a cost of more than $600,000, and the foundation’s Jim Marcoux tells WSJM News his group wants to help.

“The splash pad was really designed and came about to provide a place for the kids, when the lake is really rough, for the kids to have an alternative so they’re not risking their lives with the undertow and – well, we’ve all seen what the lake is capable of in the last couple months,” Marcoux said.

Marcoux says the foundation has put forth a $25,000 matching grant for its fundraising effort, meaning if you donate, your money will be doubled, and ultimately, the foundation will be able to contribute $50,000 for the pad. The foundation presented its first check, for $12,000, to the South Haven City Council this week. Anyone who wants to make a donation can contact the Greater South Haven Area Community Foundation.
