Fifth grade students from all across Michigan are invited to enter the 2020 Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest. Michigan State Police Missing Children’s Clearinghouse analyst Jolene Hardesty tells WSJM News there are around 800 missing kids in Michigan right now, and the annual poster contest asks students to draw attention to them.

“The theme this year is Bringing Our Missing Children Home, and so kids get to talk about what that means, what does that look like to them,” Hardester said. “A lot of kids will think about the puzzling circumstances around it, or the mystery, the shadows, the home, will really mean something to them.”

Hardesty says the top three entries will receive prizes, while the first place submission will be entered into the National Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest. The winner of that contest gets a trip to Washington, D.C. You can find out more information about the poster contest right here.
