No suspects have yet been identified in the shooting of a 24-year-old man at the end of a party at an apartment in the Blossom Acres housing project in Benton Township around 6:30 Sunday morning. Lakwanta Griffin is recovering at Spectrum Health Lakeland with gunshot wounds to his hip and right arm, and those injuries are not life-threatening. Griffin told investigators as everyone was leaving the party, people came up and started to argue outside before someone pulled out a gun and started to shoot. He was being rushed to the hospital by a group of friends when their car rolled in the city of St. Joseph near the county courthouse, killing 23-yer-old Jhuone Fonder of Benton Harbor. The driver of the car, 27-year-old Larry Carter of Benton Harbor, was also ejected along with Fonder and a fourth man was hurt in the wreck. Carter’s car was the only one involved.
