An Indiana man will be sentenced in March in Cass County after being found guilty of a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon in an automobile. Jurors only needed about five minutes to return with the conviction of 36-year-old Ty Van Pav of Elkhart. He was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for having an expired license plate in August near Stateline Liquor Store in Edwardsburg. The officers who pulled over the Jeep testified that when they asked Pav to exit the vehicle, a loaded handgun fell out and landed at the feet of one of the officers. They then found a handgun under the driver’s seat and a machete between the front seats. Pav faces up to five years in prison.
