Congressman Fred Upton is taking submissions for his annual Congressional Art Competition. He tells WSJM News high school students from all over the Sixth District are invited to send in two dimensional art. The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts will help to determine the winner.

“The winning piece of art, their art will hang, in essence, in the U.S. Capitol in one of our long hallways that go from the office buildings to the Capitol,” Upton said.

Upton says the winner and a guest will be invited to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. The winning piece of art will be on display in the Capitol for a year along with the winners of the award from districts across the United States. You can find the contest application right here. Upton says high school art teachers are told about the contest each year so they can get the word out to their students.
