Set for this Saturday is 103.7 COSY radio’s annual We Care Island Sit Marathon in South Haven. COSY’s Paul Layendecker tells WSJM News this is the 19th year for the event. It’s COSY’s way of raising funds for We Care, Incorporated.

“Typically, we raise about $15,000 in the 12 hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Volunteers from all over the area come and help out. We have politicians and good friends of We Care.”

Layendecker told us a bit about what We Care does.

“We Care is a clearinghouse for those who are in need, whether it’s food or shelter or heating assistance, a whole variety of things. We serve dozens of people every month.”

COSY staff and volunteers will be stationed at the Welcome Island in downtown South Haven from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. taking donations for We Care. Layendecker invites everyone to stop by and give whatever they can. You can also contribute online at WCSY.com.
