Michigan lawmakers had a chance to meet with students enrolled in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program this week. Students from across the state went to Lansing for JMG’s annual Legislative Day. Kinexus tells us legislators heard personal stories from the students about how they’re overcoming barriers like poverty, being abandoned by their parents, and a lack of transportation with the help of JMG. The students also demonstrated the communication, professionalism, and employability skills they learned throughout the year via Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates. Among those to meet with the students were former Budget Director Al Pscholka, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, and state Representative Beth Griffin. Kinexus says Legislative Day helps state lawmakers and others get a first-hand look at the results produced by the program.
