The city of South Haven is partnering with the South Haven Tribune and Van Buren Reminder to cut down on litter on city streets and sidewalks. The city has now created an “opt-out” list for the publications, ensuring those who don’t want the subscription don’t get it. City Clerk Travis Sullivan says the list will be put together through requests from property owners through the end of this month.

“We’ve gotten a number of emails from folks who are concerned over the last few months about the number of newspapers that are in the streets,” Sullivan tells us. “They end up in the streets, at the end of driveways, they end up on sidewalks, and it seems to be a city-wide issue.”

People who want to opt out should contact Sullivan through email at tsullivan@south-haven.com or by calling 269-637-0750. Everyone who reaches out to Sullivan by the end of this month will no longer get the publications starting in April, and the list will be updated at the beginning of every year. If someone decides after the March 31 deadline, they can still be removed by reaching out directly to the publishers directly. Both are also available online at no charge.
