A donation of up to $300,000 has been made to Benton Harbor Area Schools. Superintendent Andrae Townsel said during a Tuesday virtual session of the school board the money is for cultural climate and security.

“If the board accepts the offer of these funds, the funds will be used to pay for approximately six months of service provided by and paid to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department for the school resource officer,” Townsel said. “The remaining funds will be used to offset costs incurred for student monitoring.”

Townsel said the donation is from an anonymous organization. The board then voted to accept the donation.
