Pure Michigan has started a new campaign intended to spread some positivity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel Michigan Vice President Dave Lorenz tells WSJM News “Two Peninsulas, One Pure Michigan” is aimed at serving as a reminder of the value of unity, connectedness, and hope as we continue social distancing.

“Because of all that stress and strain, we felt that there would be no better time to remind everybody that we are one people, we are one state,” Lorenz said. “We may live in two peninsulas, but we are one pure Michigan.”

Lorenz says the message will be brought to the public via ads and 55 donated billboards around the state.

“We took ads that we’ve used in the past. We’ve put them out there in a different mix, presenting them in a different way. You’re going to see and hear some of those ads on TV and radio.”

Lorenz says they has to improvise as Pure Michigan’s funding has been cut. Another goal of the campaign will be to urge people to travel within Michigan to help the state recover whenever the current crisis is over.
