Things are starting to reopen in Michigan, but one very big chain, AMC, says they may not make it if this lasts much longer. Cory Jacobson, is the owner of Phoenix Theatres based in Southeast Michigan. He spoke with Michigan News Network about the difficulty of running a movie theater in times like these.

“Like us here with our own business, I mean they have landlord obligations, leases,” Jacobson said. “Just to keep our small business afloat takes an enormous amount of money on a monthly bases just to pay the utility bills, and I can only imagine what that’s like on a worldwide basis.”

Jacobson says the Phoenix Theatres are using all the CDC guidelines to prepare for reopening early next month. He’s hoping for a firm reopening date from the governor soon. She did announce on Friday theaters in the Upper Peninsula and Traverse City area could reopen next week.
