A donation of equipment to South Haven Area Emergency Services will enable its on-call staff to respond more quickly to water rescue situations. SHAES says Albemarle Corporation of South Haven has given the agency a grant to equip each of its 19 responders with a personalized life jacket, helmet, and throw-bag containing 50 feet of rope they can keep in their vehicles. SHAES Chief Brandon Hinz notes the SHAES response vehicles all have those same things, but it’s sometimes the on-call staff who reach an emergency scene first after coming from their homes or jobs. Hinz says when seconds count having the equipment on the ready can save lives. He thanked Albemarle for the contribution.
