More relief is on the way for small businesses and farms in Michigan. Michigan Economic Development Corporation CEO Mark Burton told Michigan News Network on Tuesday the Michigan Strategic Fund has approved the Michigan Small Business Restart Program, which will provide a total of $100 million to small businesses and $15 million in agricultural safety grants.

“There’s considerable need out there and we expect high demand, especially for this pool of funds particularly because the eligible expenses are a bit broader,” Burton said.

Burton says applications will be available July 15. He says 30% of funds in the small business program will go to businesses owned by women, minorities, and veterans to address inequities that have arisen with the COVID-19 pandemic.
