U.S. Senator Gary Peters is pushing for a bill to streamline national manufacturing programs to support the state’s industries. He’s introduced a bill to establish a National Institute of Manufacturing.

“[It would] put together a comprehensive strategy as to how we enhance manufacturing generally across the country, how we assist the amazing private manufacturers that exist, and it’s in some ways a really broad recognition of the fact that we need to have a comprehensive view of how we strengthen manufacturing,” Peters said.

Peters says global competitors do this and he says it’s important to make sure we have a secure supply chain. He adds support is building for the measure.
