The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety says two women are alive after being pulled from Lake Michigan on Sunday. It says officers were dispatched to Lions Park Beach just before 4:40 p.m. on a report of a water rescue. They learned two sisters, ages 29 and 32, from Illinois had been swimming when they got into deep water and couldn’t get out. Bystanders helped the women. Both were taken to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital. The 29-year-old was treated and released, while the 32-year-old remains in critical condition.
