A new online portal has been launched by the Berrien County Health Department to help employers make wise decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Spokesperson Gillian Conrad tells WSJM NJews the “Back2WorkSafe Employer and Organization Wellness Tracking Tool” enables companies to set up a voluntary account to track COVID-related information.

“When you create a secure log-in, you get a personalized dashboard for your business, your organization, that shows aggregate, de-identified information about employees that work in your organization, and it’s only the number of employees,” Conrad said.

Conrad says the portal also provides a direct link for reporting the number of employees who test positive for COVID-19 directly to the Berrien County Health Department, which can then report to the state as is required.

“The point of this is to really help employers to monitor and manage employee illnesses on their work sites, to be able to look across your entire business and see how many employees you might have ill at any given time.”

Conrad notes the information in the portal is not personal, only providing de-identified statistics about employee illnesses over time. Information collected via the platform could allow for resources, testing, and education to be targeted to potential COVID-19 hot spots that might develop in any area. The website is Back2WorkSafe.com.
