Some large components of electrical generators will be moving through Berrien County this summer, and that will affect traffic. Berrien County Road Department Director Jason Latham tells WSJM News the equipment for a new gas plant in Cass County will be shipped through the area starting this Friday, and the deliveries will continue at various times through late September. Drivers can expect some delays along John Beers Road on those days.

“What needs to happen is they need to transport that on large trailers that will probably take up both lanes on John Beers Road, and with large of equipment, it’s going to be traveling pretty slow,” Latham said. “It’s going to be kind of a rolling closure.”

Latham says 26 large loads are expected to travel along John Beers Road and M-139 from I-94. The shipments will only take place during the day, and they could involve crews to move overhead wires out of the way.
