The Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph has received $93,000 in grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Krasl’s Laura Winkle tells WSJM News $20,000 of that is to support general operations, while $70,000 is for capital improvements at the facility.

“The $70,000 capital improvement grant will go toward any of the construction costs or contracting fees, new furnishings that will improve our main floor spaces,” Winkle said.

Winkle says they’ve been working on the overlook room, the museum shop, and lounge. Winkle notes much of the work came about as the Krasl shut down due to COVID-19. She hopes visitors will like what they see when they return to the improved Krasl. The center is looking to raise $100,000 for the matching grants by September.
