Large parties and groups visiting bars have been blamed for the recent spike in coronavirus numbers in Michigan. But what about big protests we’ve seen across the state? Are they also part of the problem? Governor Gretchen Whitmer has some thoughts.

“When it comes to protests, certainly there were probably some cases that have come from protests, but we have not seen an outbreak as a result of a protest as we have done the tracing,” Whitmer said. “The concerns are bars. The concerns are these social gatherings that have been happening. That’s where we’ve really seen the spread happen in Michigan.”

Whitmer is again calling on people in Michigan to wear masks and maintain social distance to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
