The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin a resurfacing project on eleven miles of I-94 in Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties on Monday. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa tells WSJM News the work will have crews out on the highway through mid-September.

“It’s a $5 million investment to repair some joints, do some shoulder repairs…and then some new pavement markings,” Schirripa said.

Schirripa says the work will be done from the Mattawan area to Portage on both sides of the highway. It will mean single lane closures at times. The project is intended to improve the ride quality and extend the life of the road.
