State Representative Jon Hoadley and former Democratic rival Jen Richardson are out with a video “setting the record straight” on misinformation about their primary campaign against each other. Richardson started out with a “New York Post” article.

“A lot of those allegations were, first of all, taken out of context,” she explained. “To somehow imply that Jon is creepy or was engaged in inappropriate behavior is just flat-out untrue.”

Richardson apologized to anyone hurt by the article.

“We made a mistake, and we’re sorry. We are sorry to everyone we hurt, we’re sorry to Jon, and we want to make sure that the record is straight. I do believe in accountability. That includes holding myself accountable.”

Hoadley issued his own apology and then called out Congressman Fred Upton.

“Where’s Fred Upton on all of this?” he asked. “To let other folks perpetuate lies or misinformation isn’t the type of campaign that I want to run, and it’s not the type of campaign that voters in southwest Michigan deserve.”

Hoadley faces Upton in November.
