State Senator Kim LaSata is holding a children’ coat drive ahead of the winter. Her office has released the following:

State Sen. Kim LaSata on Monday announced Kim’s Coat Drive for Kids is back for 2020 in an effort to collect new or gently used coats for children throughout Southwest Michigan. The coat drive begins Oct. 1 and ends Oct. 31.

“Last year’s inaugural Kim’s Coat Drive for Kids was a huge success, and I am excited to announce we’re bringing it back for 2020,” said LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township. “We’re not going to let the coronavirus stop us. However, this year we are taking extra precautions to ensure everyone’s safety. Those wishing to donate a new or gently used coat are being asked to call or email my office, and we’ll arrange to have the items picked up.”

LaSata said she will again be coordinating with local school districts to distribute the donated coats to children in the 21st Senate District.

For more information or to schedule a donated coat pickup, call 517-373-6960 or email SenKLaSata@senate.michigan.gov.

“As colder temperatures approach, many kids throughout Southwest Michigan will find themselves without a warm jacket that fits,” LaSata said. “I hope Southwest Michiganders will again join Kim’s Coat Drive for Kids next month to donate new and gently used coats and jackets for area youth.”
