Indiana Michigan Power wants everyone to stop messing with its utility poles. I&M put out a statement Friday saying the materials used to put signs on utility pole — like tacks, nails, or staples — can interfere with a worker’s ability to access the pole. It says those objects can obstruct climbing equipment, causing a worker to slip or fall. They also can tear the protective clothing that shields a worker from electricity. I&M notes that posting signs on utility poles within the public right-of-way is prohibited in some localities, including Fort Wayne and South Bend.
