Michigan has reported 1,308 new COVID-19 cases with 5,000 more recoveries over the weekend. The state Department of Health and Human Services reports since March, we are now at 122,735 cases. There were also 8 deaths reported today, bringing the statewide total to 6,731. Governor Whitmer said there are still areas of the state that are seeing higher numbers.

“We’ve made great strides, but it’s all very precarious. If we drop our guard and stop doing what we need to do to stay safe, we could see community spread,” says Whitmer. “We are seeing elevated numbers in the Upper Peninsula that remain a concern. If we continue to see that, we may have to dial back a little bit.”

The Department of Health and Human Services reports just over 95,000 residents have recovered from COVID-19. Locally there are 1,691 COVID-19 cases in Berrien County, 532 in Cass County, and 677 in Van Buren County. Monday’s reports also include data from Sunday.
