Honor Credit Union is now taking applications for its annual Teacher Awards. Honor CU Brand Specialist Kayla Smith tells WSJM News this is the eleventh year for the Teacher Awards, and they come at a time when teachers face extra challenges.
“We want to give back to those who are supporting the students,” Smith said. “Our educators put in long hours every year, but this year has been different for everyone, as we know, with the pandemic and the different guidelines that have been put into place.”
Smith says 70 teachers in communities served by Honor Credit Union will receive $200 Amazon gift cards. That’s twice the usual award amount and nearly twice the usual number of teachers selected. To enter, a teacher must explain in 200 words or less how they would use an additional $200 to benefit their classroom and students.
