Honor Credit Union says its members shredded nearly 76,000 pounds of documents through its Free Community Shred Days this year. The credit union held the events at 23 of its centers for a total of 11 shred days in partnership with Data Guardian and Country Mile Shredding Service. Members were invited to bring their confidential documents to be safely destroyed through a contact-free method with a goal of reducing Honor Credit Union’s carbon footprint. Shred days at Honor Credit locations in St. Joseph resulted in more than 9,700 pounds of documents shredded. The events in South Haven say more than 6,600 pounds shredded. There were also events in Paw Paw, Niles, and Allegan, among other places. Honor says they saved 649 trees and 123 cubic yards of landfill space.
